Burglar-resistance classes

Resistance classes (RC) classify the anti-burglary properties of a mechanical system. They set the level of protection a window offers against break-in attempts, based on the tools and methods used.

RC1

Doors and windows in this class have basic protection against attempts to get in using only physical force: kicks, pushing, pulling.

RC2

Must resist an occasional or inexperienced burglar using simple tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, pincers and wedges.

RC3

Resists more complex attempts by an experienced burglar using a crowbar, a screwdriver and a small hammer to break and force the window.

RC4

Must resist a very experienced burglar using saws, hammers, axes, chisels and drills.
